SPSR Brings Mardi Gras to the Middle East

December 18, 2019 News

Mardi Gras may not be a holiday many outside of New Orleans celebrate, but as any Louisianan knows, it’s a holiday worth its weight in beads.  This year, Simon, Peragine, Smith & Redfearn was able to share little bit of home with the members of the 165th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion.  The 165th CSSB is part of the Louisiana National Guard and is headquartered in Bossier City, Louisiana.  Partner, Charlie Riley, led the effort.

“I have a good friend of mine, Bevan, who is stationed overseas.  Bevan is a big Mardi Gras fan and he’s planning a Mardi Gras parade for his unit in Afghanistan.  He asked me if I had any old Mardi Gras rider costumes from my days of riding a float in the Endymion parade.  I told him I did not but I would check around,” Charlie said.  With all of the colorful costumes sent by SPS&R, the 165th CSSB was able to put on a parade with soldiers from all over the US, bringing a touch of New Orleans to the Middle East.

Charlie Riley is a commercial litigator practicing primarily in the areas of transportation law, premises liability, and large-loss subrogation.
