In Memoriam – James A. Burton

October 3, 1947 – November 3, 2019

It is with sorrow that we announce that James A. Burton, a founding member of the firm, died on November 3, 2019. During Jim’s years with the firm, he was known for his concern for others, his great generosity and care for the law. He was a fine lawyer and made those around him better.

Jim graduated from Tulane Law School in 1972 where he served on the board of editors of the Tulane Law Review and received the Order of the Coif. He served as Managing Partner of the firm for 16 years and headed its Appellate Practice Section. He was a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and served for years as an Adjunct Professor in the Program in Community Medicine, Tulane School of Medicine.

He will be greatly missed both by the firm and all who knew him.
