WILLIAM “MATT” BLACKSTON

Mr. Blackston graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from Washington & Lee School of Law in Lexington , VA.   While attending law school, he was Chairman of the Moot Court Board.  Also, Mr. Blackston has completed the National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s National Course and has attended the Contract Attorneys Course and the Government Fiscal Law Course taught at the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General School in Charlottesville , VA.

Mr. Blackston is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Court of Federal Claims, and all Louisiana State and federal courts.  His practice is concentrated in the fields of construction law and product liability and he has tried cases in federal and state courts.  He has also handled arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association, Arbitration Forums, Inc. and has appeared before military courts and administrative boards.

Mr. Blackston is a fellow with the Louisiana Bar Foundation and is a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute.  He is a Judge Advocate General Corps officer holding the rank of major in the United States Army Reserve.  He is a state officer in the Louisiana Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and is a member of the New Orleans Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee.  He was recently awarded the Bronze Star medal for service in Iraq .
