Mr. Shreves is a board
certified tax attorney (Board Certified Tax Specialist
– 1992 to present) who represents individuals and businesses in connection
with a variety of tax, estate planning and business issues. Mr. Shreves handles
tax controversies, planning and implementation issues involving individuals,
estates, trusts and businesses.
He is a Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration
Specialist (1996 to present)
Mr. Shreves is experienced in drafting and implementing
complex estate planning documents, including wills,
living wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts for
a variety of purposes (i.e., insurance, charitable
giving, asset management and planning for incompetence),
powers of attorney, acts of donations, and related
documents. He has extensive experience in processing
successions, ancillary successions, inter vivos asset
transfers, and the transfers of probate and nonprobate
assets.
Mr. Shreves also provides a variety of professional
services to businesses and individuals in the tax and
business areas, including the following: tax controversies
at the federal, state and local levels; the choice,
structure, formation and operation of business and
nonprofit entities; planning and implementing restructuring
transactions including mergers, asset and stock acquisitions,
reformation, dissolution and liquidation; dispute resolution,
transfers of ownership and business planning for business
owners; and general tax strategies and planning for
individuals and business owners.
Mr. Shreves also handles the elder care, interdiction
and tutorship issues for the firm, including the planning
issues involving incompetence, establishment of curatorships
and tutorships, and advising tutors and curators as
to ongoing administrative and compliance issues.
His experience includes the handling of tax, estate,
trust and business controversies in state and federal
courts, the U.S. Tax Court and the Louisiana Board
of Tax Appeals, as well as various administrative agencies.
