PROFILE:  

Mr. Wilson serves as both lead trial counsel and appellate counsel in all stages of federal and state civil litigation involving complex issues of law in many diverse fields. His experience includes litigation related to personal injuries, major disasters, ship collisions, insurance coverage and, oilfield and environmental remediation matters, from the original accident or field investigation through the final appeal if necessary. His most significant achievement to date involves the outright dismissal of a class action and several other related suits seeking billions of dollars in alleged damage to oyster leases in Louisiana resulting from coastal restoration projects. He has also served as a consultant to the State on coastal restoration issues.

- Alonzo v. State, 884 So.2d 634 (La.App. 4th Cir. 9/8/04 ) Successful defense of state and reversal of second $1,000,000,000 judgment.

- Boston Old Colony Ins. Co. v. Tiner Assocs. , 288 F.3d 222 (5 th Cir. 2002) Successful subrogation recovery of $6,000,000 for television tower damage and business interruption despite coverage defense.

- H.C. Drew Estate v. Reunion Energy Co., 689 So.2d 457 (La.App. 3 rd Cir. 2/23/96 ) Successful assertion of doctrine of primary jurisdiction in remediation case.

- New York Marine & General Insurance Company v. Gulf Marine Towing, Inc. and Maitland Bros. Co., 1994 AMC 976 ( E.D. La. 1993) Successful assertion of coverage defense on hull policy for $1,000,000 total loss of vessel.

- Gulf Atlantic Transport Company, et al. v. Offshore Tugs, Inc. and Bruce Brothers Towing Company, Inc., 1992 AMC 2082 (E.D. La. 1992) Successful establishment of additional assured status and defense of negligent towage claim for $6,000,000 total loss of vessel.

- Deutsche Shell Tanker-Gesellschaft mbH v. Placid Refining Co., 767 F.Supp. 762 ( E.D. La. 1991) aff’d, 993 F.2d 466 (5 th Cir. 1993). Successful defense of cargo interest in $3,000,000 general average claim.

- Pennzoil Producing Company v. Offshore Express, Inc., 943 F.2d 1465 (5 th Cir. 1991) 90% reduction of $1,100,000 loss of production claim following pipeline allision.

- McGehee v. Panama Canal Com. , 872 F.2d 1213 (5 th Cir. 1989) Successful recovery for yacht damage outside the Panama Canal .
